Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 17, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SlideNote website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using SlideNote, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

01

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SlideNote, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using SlideNote on behalf of an organization, school, university, business, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

02

Eligibility

You may use SlideNote only if you are legally permitted to enter into a binding agreement with us and are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law.

SlideNote is not directed to children under 13. If applicable law requires a higher minimum age for use of the Service, that higher age applies. If you are below the applicable minimum age, you may use SlideNote only with legally valid parental or guardian authorization where permitted by law.

03

Description of the Service

SlideNote provides digital tools for viewing, organizing, and taking notes on slide presentations and digital documents. The Service may also provide real-time speech-to-text transcription and related features.

Features may change over time. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features or portions of the Service as reasonably necessary to operate and improve SlideNote, address security or technical issues, comply with applicable law, or respond to changes in our business.

We do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be available or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

04

User Accounts

Some SlideNote features require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate information and for maintaining the security of your account and the devices through which you access the Service.

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account unless the activity resulted from unauthorized access that was not caused by your failure to reasonably protect your account or credentials.

You must promptly notify us if you believe that your account has been accessed without authorization or that your account security has been compromised.

05

User Content

Your Ownership: You retain the ownership rights you have in the content you upload, create, store, or process through SlideNote (“User Content”), including presentation files, notes, highlights, and transcripts, subject to any rights belonging to third parties.

License to Operate the Service: By using SlideNote, you grant SlideNote a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and otherwise use your User Content solely as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service for you. This license ends when the applicable User Content is deleted from the Service, except to the extent retention is reasonably necessary for legal, security, backup, dispute-resolution, or other legitimate purposes described in our Privacy Policy.

Your Responsibility: You are responsible for ensuring that you have all rights, permissions, and authorizations necessary to upload, store, process, transcribe, or otherwise use your User Content through SlideNote.

You must not upload or use content in a way that violates applicable law, infringes another person's intellectual property or privacy rights, or violates an agreement or policy that applies to you.

06

Microphone Input and Transcription Consent

SlideNote may provide a real-time transcription feature that uses your device's microphone. When you activate this feature, microphone audio is streamed to SlideNote's third-party speech recognition provider for real-time speech-to-text processing, as described in our Privacy Policy.

SlideNote does not intentionally record or retain raw microphone audio in your SlideNote account or application database.

Your Responsibility for Consent: You are responsible for using the transcription feature in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, institutional policies, contractual obligations, and other requirements.

Before using the transcription feature to capture speech involving other people, you are responsible for providing any notices and obtaining any consents or permissions required under applicable law or the circumstances.

You must not use SlideNote's transcription feature to secretly capture or transcribe conversations when doing so would violate applicable law, privacy rights, confidentiality obligations, or applicable institutional or organizational policies.

07

Automated AI Transcription Disclaimer

SlideNote's live transcription features use automated speech recognition and artificial intelligence technologies. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Automated transcripts may contain errors, omissions, misinterpretations, incorrect words, punctuation errors, or other inaccuracies.
  • Transcription accuracy may be affected by speech patterns, accents, pronunciation, terminology, background noise, multiple speakers, microphone quality, network conditions, and other factors.
  • Transcripts are provided for convenience, educational reference, and personal note-taking purposes and should not be relied upon as an official, legal, medical, financial, or otherwise authoritative record.
  • You are responsible for reviewing important information before relying on a transcript or using it for a consequential purpose.
  • SlideNote does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability, or real-time latency of any transcription.
08

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use SlideNote to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, court order, or other legal requirement.
  • Infringe, misappropriate, or violate another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights.
  • Upload, transmit, or process content that is unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, defamatory, or otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
  • Use the Service to secretly record or transcribe people in violation of applicable consent or privacy requirements.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, networks, or data associated with SlideNote or its service providers.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, damage, overload, or impair the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Service, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Use automated means to access the Service in a manner that places an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure or circumvents technical access controls.
  • Circumvent usage limits, security measures, or other restrictions applicable to the Service.
09

SlideNote Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, functionality, software, user interface, visual design, graphics, trademarks, logos, and other materials provided by SlideNote are owned by or licensed to SlideNote and are protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws.

Except for the limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms, no ownership or other intellectual property rights are transferred to you.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, lease, license, publicly display, publicly perform, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit SlideNote or its proprietary materials except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.

The SlideNote name, logo, trademarks, service marks, and related branding may not be used without our prior written permission.

10

Third-Party Services

SlideNote relies on third-party service providers and infrastructure to operate certain portions of the Service. These providers may include Google, Microsoft, and Firebase for authentication and application services, Firebase Cloud Firestore for application data, Google Cloud for cloud infrastructure, Cloudflare for network and security services, and AssemblyAI for real-time speech-to-text processing.

Your use of the Service may therefore involve the processing of information by these third-party providers. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and the roles of these providers.

Third-party services may have their own terms, policies, and technical requirements. We are not responsible for the independent acts, omissions, availability, or policies of third-party services that are outside our reasonable control.

11

Service Availability and Modifications

We work to keep SlideNote available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

The Service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, upgrades, technical problems, security incidents, internet or network failures, third-party service interruptions, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue all or part of the Service. Where reasonably practicable, we may provide notice of material changes, but we are not required to provide advance notice where doing so would be impracticable, would create a security risk, or is not otherwise required by law. Changes to plan benefits, usage limits, and pricing are addressed in Section 12.

12

Fees, Subscriptions, and Payments

Certain SlideNote features or plans may be offered for a fee. If you purchase a paid plan, the applicable plan benefits, usage limits, pricing, billing frequency, renewal terms, cancellation terms, and other purchase conditions presented to you at the time of purchase will apply.

Paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Pro renews monthly at the price shown at checkout, plus applicable taxes. You can manage payment details, invoices, and cancellation through Manage billing on your Account page. Cancellation at the end of a paid period preserves Pro until that period ends. Unused allowances do not roll over. Deleting your account cancels recurring billing immediately.

We may change the features and usage limits of free plans, including monthly transcription allowances. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material reductions when practicable.

If a paid subscription automatically renews, you will be informed of the applicable renewal terms and price before completing the purchase, and where required by law, you must provide affirmative consent to the automatic renewal.

You may cancel a subscription using the cancellation method made available by SlideNote. Cancellation generally prevents future renewal but does not automatically entitle you to a refund for a period already paid for, except where required by law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.

We may change the price, included benefits, or usage limits of a paid plan for future billing periods. We will notify you before a material reduction in benefits or an increase in price takes effect, and you may cancel before the next renewal. We will not reduce the included benefits for a billing period you have already paid for. Any additional notice or consent required by applicable law will apply.

13

Account Suspension and Termination

You may stop using SlideNote at any time and may delete your account using the account controls made available through the Service.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or our policies; if your use creates a security or operational risk; if we are required to do so by law; or for other legitimate business or security reasons.

Where reasonably practicable and appropriate, we may provide notice before suspending or terminating an account. We may act without prior notice when necessary to protect the Service, other users, third parties, or our legal rights.

Following termination, your right to access the Service will end. Information associated with your account may be deleted or retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal or technical requirements.

14

Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SLIDENOTE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE PRACTICE.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR ERROR, REMAIN AVAILABLE, OR PRODUCE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR RELIABLE RESULTS, INCLUDING TRANSCRIPTION RESULTS.

15

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SLIDENOTE AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, LICENSORS, AND RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE, THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SLIDENOTE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSSES RESULTING FROM TRANSCRIPTION ERRORS, OMISSIONS, DELAYS, INTERRUPTIONS, OR INACCURACIES, OR FROM THE CONTENT OR ACTIONS OF OTHER USERS OR THIRD PARTIES.

NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES OR LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.

16

Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SlideNote and its owners, operators, affiliates, service providers, licensors, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to:

  • Your User Content or your use of User Content through the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
  • Your violation of another person's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or confidentiality rights.
  • Your use of the transcription feature without obtaining any notice, consent, authorization, or permission required by applicable law or the circumstances.

We reserve the right to assume exclusive control and defense of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us in defending the matter.

17

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent applicable law requires otherwise.

Subject to any mandatory rights or procedures provided by applicable law, disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the parties agree otherwise or applicable law requires a different forum.

18

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our business practices, third-party services, or applicable legal requirements.

When we update these Terms, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice through the Service, by email, or by another appropriate method where required by law.

Unless otherwise stated, updated Terms become effective when posted. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

19

General Provisions

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly incorporated into these Terms, constitute the agreement between you and SlideNote regarding your use of the Service.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision in the future.

Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent, except where otherwise permitted by applicable law. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.

Force Majeure: SlideNote will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet or telecommunications failures, government actions, labor disputes, security incidents, or failures of third-party infrastructure or services.
